Yar-Craft Boats was extablished in in Menominee, Wisconsin, during the year of 1969 by Mr. Jack Dallman. Yar-Craft was spun off of what was then Thompson Boats. Though originally designed to be a runabout, Yar-Craft was re-invented in the early 1980's as a deep-v fishing boat.
In 2004 an young man named Corey Suthers, who owns the steel and stamping business Norlen Inc., sought to bring Yar-Craft to Wausau Wisconsin. On December 8th, 2011, the Pierce and Suthers families entered into an agreement that would finalize the sale of Yar-Craft Boats to the Pierce family.
Yar-Craft will continue to be an independent brand with the up-scale production technologies of parent company Bass Cat Boats, located in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Bass Cat is now in it's 41st year of ownership and operation under the founding Pierce family. Innovations will continue to be enhanced as Yar-Crafts' manufacturing methods will eventually be integrated into several proprietory processes Bass Cat has innovated for their Bass and Blue water lines.
